Memoriál Vlada Psalmana 2018

On the third week of May, Marina Hramina welcomed enthusiasts and fans of Slovak and Czech maritime sailing on the island of Murter to commemorate the memory of friend Vlad Psalman, a university teacher with an unforgettable smile who dedicated his life to sailing. His name, especially in recent years associated with Stefanik, the largest sailing ship flying the Slovak flag.

Thirteen crews on 20.5. - 24.5. 2018 fought in 3 off-shore and 11 in-shore races on one design Bavaria cruiser 41 with gennakerom. Organizer of regatta AAAYacht, s.r.o. built a regatta on an interesting idea - to connect amateurs who had professional skipper on board with the best crews of Slovak and Czech maritime sailing. The regatta started on Sunday 20.5. 2018 alongside Vlado sailboat Stefanik. Weather forecast for the whole week was not favorable - sunny and windless. In the end, however, the forecast did not materialize and currently the best Croatian referee Bojan Berlengi used the wind to the maximum and all the heats went. From the beginning of the regatta the leading positions were held alternately by the crews of Lubomir Macejka, Stanislav Varga and Jirka Chlumsky. It was amazing to see how amateur crews, led by experienced skippers, gradually gained strength, confidence and skill. They attacked and at the end of the regatta also defeated experienced crews. The regatta was closed by the final whistle of international referee Bojan on Thursday 24.5. The crew of Lubomir Macejka became the winner of the first year of the regatta of Vladislav Psalman. The first amateur crew under the hard baton of skipper Petr Čech finished 4th and proved that this is also the way to build a larger yacht base in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The closing Thursday's ceremony began with a minute of silence as a sign of respect and memory of Vlado Psalman, and the whole evening was marked by memories of him, in the presence of Brother Mila and his wife Dagmar. The crews left the marina, convinced that, like this year, everybody else would meet and the Vlad Psalman memorial would become a legacy for all yachting enthusiasts and fans as he was.

Vlado Psalman was one of the first to bring his passion and enthusiasm for the wind in sails to the curriculum at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport in Bratislava, where he worked as a university lecturer, associate professor, doctor of natural sciences. Yachting gradually gained in popularity not only among FTVS students, but also among "random passers-by" and basic fans grew from year to year. Every time a new crew was added, everybody registered the name of Vlad Psalman in the background, and over time, the name of Štefánik, the largest sailing vessel flying under the Slovak flag, was added to his menu. Vlado received a symbol for his passion and, together with his wife Dagmar, brother Milo, family and friends, dedicated the last years of his life to this sailboat. And this picture was right for each of us in the regatta.

Vlado, honor your memory!
